 Anne Frank would have been 94 today. Her diary has helped countless readers connect to the experiences of a hidden child during the Holocaust, providing a glimpse into what it was like to be persecuted—living in constant fear and danger, not knowing if she would have enough to eat, and trying to maintain some sense of normalcy while putting her life on hold. Though Anne is the most well-known, she was only one of the tens of thousands of Jewish children forced into hiding. Nazi Germany and its collaborators killed as many as 1.5 million Jewish children.
